Kenya Dennis has been selected as the 2022-2023 Central High School Teacher of the Year!
This is Kenya's fifth year at Central High School where she teaches 10th-12th grade environmental and physical sciences.
"My favorite part of the job is seeing the spark in my students' faces when they accomplish something they didn't believe they could," she said.
Kenya wanted to become a teacher to fill an important role in the lives of her students.
"Our young people need positive people who believe in them and empower them to tap into the greatness that lies within them. I needed to share the life experiences that give strength to those who may be in a struggle. I needed to give back to my community."
She said Central High School is a great example of teamwork.
"Whether it's in our staff culture or the culture of the classroom, we are building a foundation of success through teamwork."
