JROTC
Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC)
- NJROTC is sponsored jointly by the U.S. Navy and the high school as a citizenship and leadership development program for students in grades 9 through 12.
- NJROTC is an education program for in graduation credit. Cadets are under no military obligation.
- NJROTC is open to every student who meets the school requirements for enrollment.
- NJROTC teaches self-discipline, self-confidence, and leadership skills to help you successfully meet life’s challenges.
- NJROTC can greatly help students enlisting in the military service, or seeking nomination to the Naval Academy, or interested in qualifying for an NROTC college scholarship.
- NJROTC uniforms, books, training aids, and other types of equipment are provided to the cadets and are paid for by the Navy.
- NJROTC units sponsor the formation of drill, athletic, marksmanship, and orienteering teams and other types of extracurricular activities.
- NJROTC cadets take part in orientation visits, and field trips to various naval activities and sometimes even ship training cruises to enhance their classroom studies.
- The NJROTC program is taught by retired officers and enlisted personnel.
